Join us in counting and learning more about the Sunshine Coast’s butterflies. Find a workshop or survey to suit you. Each event is hosted by butterfly enthusiasts and occur across a range of locations on the Sunshine Coast. You don’t need to be a butterfly expert, anyone can join.

 

Wednesday 9 November (8am – 10am) - Faunawatch butterfly survey

Faunawatch hosts regular butterfly surveys at the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Garden. This month's survey will focus on butterflies and other pollinators.

Wednesday 9 November (3.30pm) - Bug Club - Make your data count

Bug Club is for budding entomologists of all ages. This week learn how to use the app, BioCollect to record your Big Butterfly Count observations. The workshop will include our regular catch and release activities.

Saturday 12 November (9am-11am) – Get to know your local butterflies

Join Mooloolah River Landcare for an amazing morning of butterfly exploration! Learn how to identify our local butterflies and discover tips for creating a native garden that supports butterflies. The morning will also include a survey of butterflies and bees.

Build your knowledge of local butterflies found at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve by joining a butterfly survey with local butterfly enthusiasts.

Monday 14 November (8am-10am) - Breakfast with the Butterflies

Join environmental educator and author Helen Schwenke for a morning meander through the Barung Seed Forest and Garden for Wildlife learning about butterflies and creating butterfly habitat at home. The guided walk will be followed by a butterfly survey.

Tuesday 15 & Wednesday 16 November - Pollinator survey and butterfly gardening information

9am-10am: Join the Big Butterfly Count and discover the diversity of butterflies in the Forest Heart Nursery. Learn about the native plants that support butterflies and other pollinators through an all day information stall.

Saturday 19 November (9am – 10am) - Butterflies and Bees, attracting pollinators to your garden

Join this guided walk through the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Garden to learn more about the important role of pollinators and how to support them in your garden.

Saturday 19 November - Butterfly printing

A workshop for children. Participants will learn gel-plate printmaking and create an unique art-piece to take home.
