A celebration of student art and Australian birds!

The Holmes Junior Art Prize for Realistic Australian Bird Art 2020 was an award hosted by Sunshine Coast Council and generously sponsored by the Friends, Regional Gallery Caloundra Inc. The award was open to students 18 years and under, working in a 2D medium, who have created artworks portraying a realistic Australian birdlife scene. With $1 500 worth of prizes up for grabs a record number of entries were received.

Forty finalists were selected for exhibition in the Theatrette at the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve with twelve Highly Commended displayed in the Rainforest Discovery Centre foyer and all other entries available for viewing in portfolios.  The outstanding display of works by children from south east Queensland and interstate was showcased at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve from 12 September to 11 October 2020.
