Artists in Residence: Sunshine Coast Nature Sketchers

5 - 17 April: Local group bring their shared artistic practice to document the biodiversity of the Reserve

The Sunshine Coast Nature Sketchers' practice is rooted in collective curiosity, shared inquiry, connectedness with each other and nature, and a desire for deep learning through nature sketching.

This two week, group residency will involve mindful observation and practicing connection through slow walking along the Reserve tracks, and collectively ‘seeing’ and sharing of knowledge to enrich each other's creativity. Whilst undertaking their work, visitors to the Rainforest Discovery Centre will be able to see how the collective experience not only nurtures personal and creative growth but also creates a deeper connection between people and the environment. Sunshine Coast Nature Sketchers will also demonstrate the wide diversity of approaches that can be taken when nature sketching, through different personal styles and mediums.

In residence between 5 - 17 April, 9.30am - 3.30pm*

Come and try sessions:

  • Sat 5 & Sun 6 from 10am - 12.30pm
  • Sat 12 & Sun 13 from 10am - 12.30pm

*Studio open to public viewing, including artists working and works in development, subject to when artists are researching and sketching in the Reserve.
