Ferris Wheel returns in spectacular new spot

Sunshine Coast residents and visitors will be on top of the world when Australia’s tallest travelling observation wheel is welcomed back in Caloundra this week.

The Skyline Attractions Ferris Wheel is back for the first time in three years and will be based at Kings Beach Water Fountain, next to the surf club.

The towering structure will provide spectacular 360-degree views of Caloundra and the hinterland’s mountains from its 35-metre-high peak for 10 weeks from May 10 to July 21.

With 24 gondolas seating up to 144 people and more than 9000 lights, it’s set to be a memorable experience to enjoy with family, friends, groups or a special date!

Division 2 Councillor Terry Landsberg was excited to jump on board the awe-inspiring attraction and said he hoped it would help boost business and tourism in the area.

“The relocation from Bulcock Beach to Kings Beach ensures the wheel won’t take up any car park spaces while also enhancing the accessibility and enjoyment for visitors,” Cr Landsberg said.

“As we prepare to welcome locals and tourists, we're committed to providing an unforgettable experience in Caloundra.

“The Ferris Wheel is just one of the many awesome attractions happening in Queensland’s Top Tourism Town in the coming months.

“Caloundra’s Biggest Street Stall is on at Felicity Park on Saturday, May 11, there’s a free family movie evening at Kings Beach Amphitheatre on Friday, May 24, and a retro car festival Downunder Beachfest revs up from May 29.

“While you’re out and about enjoying the twilight markets, retail shops or local eateries, why not elevate your experience and enjoy a ride on the Ferris Wheel.”

The Ferris Wheel will be based at Kings Beach from May 10 to July 21.

Tickets are $10 for kids and seniors, $15 for adults or $50 per gondola, which seats up to six people, and are available from https://www.skylineattractions.com.au/

Jane Jones said her team at Skyline Attractions was thrilled to return to Caloundra.

“We are excited to be opening on the Sunshine Coast once again and create a buzz around town for locals and visitors,” Ms Jones said.

“Working with all the lovely business owners in Caloundra was a highlight of our stay last time and we certainly hope to build on these relationships to celebrate and showcase the town from a different view.”
