Melaleuca forest

A forest for feasting

Melaleuca forest

The melaleuca or broad-leaved paperbark tree with its pale, papery bark is the hero of this forest.

Paperbarks can’t survive being in water all the time, but they don’t mind having wet feet. They can flower multiple times in a year making them an important food source for many animals. Under the paperbarks you’ll find other water-loving plants like the giant mangrove fern and sedges. Vines are also a key feature of the melaleuca forest.

What animals can you hear in the paperbark forest?
