A blended forest

Wet eucalypt forest

Not a eucalypt forest but not quite a rainforest either.

Wet eucalypt forests share characteristics of both forest types. Eucalypts such as the giant flooded gum and their close relatives such as the brush box reach up forming the canopy layer. Underneath is a tangle of glossy leaved trees, shrubs, palms and vines. The shady forest floor is covered in a thick layer of leaves, sticks and other plant material. This forest grows beyond the reach of salty tides.
